more details: ssh from sunflower knit and katherine from Winnipeg Sews have teamed up to introduce a unique beginner friendly workshop. we'll be dyeing and then sewing a simple knee-length house robe out of organic cotton flannel, a luxurious and earth friendly fabric that will help start every morning right.

in the first day of this class, students will dye their fabric using natural dyes with the help of local dyer and designer, ash alberg of sunflower knit. we'll spend the day learning everything from how to forage ethically and responsibly to how not to shock your fibres. students will choose between multiple dye pots and/or eco-printing to make a truly unique base for your sewing the following day.

on sunday, students will be guided through a simple self-drafted robe and you'll keep your self-drafted pattern based on your measurements. the assembly of the robe will be straightfoward, a classic wrap front design with a tie closure.

it is our intention to provide our students with a rich community experience steeped in love for our planet, with a beautiful, completely custom houserobe that you can feel wonderful in every morning. a hot beverage in a hand-dyed robe is a perfect way to connect back to yourself and our earth on a daily basis.

classes run 9-3 each day.

students will be provided the following:

  1. 2.5 metres of organic cotton flannel

  2. choice of mulitple dye-pots to create a custom look

  3. all materials for pattern drafting, cutting etc., but you will need your own sewing machine.

  4. snacks, but no lunch. we will have a 30-45 minute break around 12:00.

please wear clothing you are comfortable getting splashed with dye.

we can't wait to meet you!
